Member Associations

The Reproductive Health Alliance Kyrgyzstan (RHAK) was set up in 2001, and its services now extend across all 7 regions of the Kyrgyz Republic (Osh, Jalal-Abad, Talas, Chui, Naryn, Batken, Issyk-Kul). From its inception, RHAK has enjoyed strong youth support and input into its organization, policy-making and delivery. As a result, its youth work is a distinctive strength. RHAK has developed information materials for adolescents which cover critical sexual and reproductive health (SRH) issues such as contraception and the prevention and treatment of sexually transmitted infections (STIs, including HIV and AIDS). A significant contingent of national and international trainers have been involved in training health professionals and volunteers who’ve subsequently trained groups of all sorts in SRH. Particular interest groups include refugees and internal migrants, injecting drug users (IDUs), sex workers, children in care and homeless children. RHAK is an active member of collaborative, central Asian initiatives to address the particular SRH needs and challenges of internally displaced persons (IDPs) and repatriates. This work has included the publication and circulation of a substantial range of written materials, and the creation of 3 clinics located expressly to serve migrant communities. Founded in 1933, RFSU is a non-profit membership organization aiming to promote access to sexual and reproductive health and rights — both in Sweden and internationally. RFSU has 16 local branches in Sweden and a sexual health clinic in Stockholm, also providing an invaluable source of learning for the organisation. In addition, we own a company that makes and sells condoms and wide range of products for sex, pleasure and health. To achieve our vision, of a world in which everyone is free to make decisions over their own bodies and sexuality, RFSU combines several strategies: Expertise and evidence-based knowledge and information, clinical research and global studies on SRHR lay a foundation for a solid argument for SRHR. Extensive experience in comprehensive sexuality education – guarantees the most pedagogical methods for strengthens SRHR and enhance public support for SRHR for all. Global influence and local partnerships. RFSU advocates and influences shaping the political agenda on gender equality (as well as SRHR) in Sweden and internationally. Much of this work is done with partners - for us, partnership is a fundamental way of working. We channel support to civil society organisations in a number of countries (Bolivia, Kenya, Ghana, Liberia, Georgia, Cambodia, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka) and with regional networks in Asia, Africa and Latin America. We also work with organisations and networks in Brussels, Geneva and New York to secure strong support for SRHR in international agreements, and to ensure their implementation. In January 2011, Rutgers Nisso Groep and the World Population Foundation merged to form Rutgers. Rutgers is dedicated to promoting sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) in the Netherlands and worldwide. The organization is a non-grant-receiving full Member Association of IPPF.   The 3 fundamental principles underpinning Rutgers's work are the promotion of equal sexual treatment, the protection and improvement of SRHR, and the emancipation of specific vulnerable groups, or groups with particular sexual and reproductive health (SRH) needs. Rutgers contributes to the improvement of education, prevention, counselling and policy by gathering and disseminating knowledge. It does this by conducting scientific research and developing practical and appropriate services and materials for various target groups. It produces teaching packages, websites, books and brochures. Other work undertaken by the Member Association includes the organization of disciplinary education course for first-time youth sex offenders, training for healthcare professionals, research into (and the prevention of) gender-based violence (GBV), the development of preventive interventions, and monitoring changing sexual issues in the Netherlands. SEXUAL HEALTH SWITZERLAND (SANTÉ SEXUELLE SUISSE) is the umbrella organization of the Swiss centers for sexual and reproductive health and the services for sexuality education. In its role as umbrella organisation, SEXUAL HEALTH Switzerland advocates for SRHR on cantonal, national and international level, offers information and guidelines for professionals, and develops and coordinates the training for professionals together with the universities of applied sciences. SEXUAL HEALTH Switzerland has developed a broad variety of materials on different SRHR topics that contribute to reach out to different target groups. Another important area of work is the promotion of comprehensive sexuality education in Switzerland. SEXUAL HEALTH SWITZERLAND provides the secretariat of the Swiss parliamentary group Sexual health and rights and is partner of Countdown 2030 Europe, a European consortium under the lead of IPPF Europe that advocates for increased international aid for family planning and sexual and reproductive health. SECS was founded in 1990 with the help of the IPPF (International Planned Parenthood Federation) to meet the needs of information, education and service provision in the fields of sexuality and family planning. Since then, the SECS has continued to militate for reproductive rights and reproductive health in Romania. Over the years, SECS has been an educator, opinion leader and pioneer in providing family planning services. Through its mobilization programmes, the organization has succeded in catalisying governamental organisations and non-governamental organisations from 11 urban communities to create sustainable partnerships (Local Coordination Groups) who have developed and implemented their own local plans for educating disadvantaged population through the local community resources. SECS promotes through its programmes the importance of local partnerships to being the key to identify the existing needs and the sustainable solutions for implementing them. SECS played a major role in the National Family Planning Program and supported the creation of a coherent network of supporters of reproductive health in Romania. Our organization holds the position of national leader in family planning programs, and for seven years has been a partner for Head of the Ministry of Health in initiation, implementation and monitoring of The National Family Planning Program in the health reform process. Through this program SECS has provided technical assistance for the Public Health Authorities of all the counties of the country and in collaboration with them has contributed to the medical continuum education process of 5,300 family doctors and 4,000 medical schools nurses in rural areas. Believing that that the population's access to information and education must be one continuous process, the SECS initiated Community mobilization and training programmes both in rural and urban areas, strategic and sustainable programmes.  Key areas of expertise: Providing technical assistance in initiation, implementation, monitoring and program evaluation, both at the national and international level, training of medical staff in family planning, financial management of medical offices. Adult education (communication,fundraising, growing the level of awareness on some community issues, volunteering, advocacy, respect for sexual and reproductive rights for humans with special needs). Training peer educators both for young people and for adults, community mobilization programs through developing multi-sectoral groups and optimal use of local resources. Logistic system development and implementation for monitoring the distribution of some products within public health programs, communication campaigns who are targeting behaviour change. Sensoa serves Belgium’s Flemish community. It is the official government partner in the Flemish region with regard to sexual health and SRH promotion. The organzsation was created in 2003 from the merger of several HIV and AIDS organizations and the region’s family planning association (CGSO). Its work includes information, education and communication (IEC) activities carried out through the use of social media, websites, manuals, webinars and training packages, press actions, mass media, brochures, exhibitions, teaching material, posters, targeted at professionals working with youth, young adults, adults, men who have sex with men and people living with HIV and AIDS and directly towards these target groups as well. Sensoa also runs a training centre, an online shop and a counselling service for people living with HIV and AIDS. Additionally, the organization has an international programme which is primarily involved in advocacy for sexual and reproductive health and rights and HIV and AIDS in Belgium’s international development cooperation, and on associated capacity building.
